In this week's blog, we've cooked up a special treat for you—our team's top picks! One of the most rewarding aspects of working at Multicom is collaborating with folks who geek out over movies and shows and share enthusiasm and dedication to the craft. John Tulp, Digital Operations  David Choe: High Risk , 2015- Artist David Choe has led a life of high risk, yet he has been dramatically rewarded for his exploits. Dating Show Trainwrecks and Other Romantic Indulgences

Image
It's that time of year again folks. Break out the tissues and indulge in the never-ending drama that is reality dating shows. Even TheArchive has a couple reality trainwrecks.  Don't bother with actual relationships. Instead, watch a bunch of people find love in a controlled environment while the producers pull the strings off camera. Plus this year, the only new romantic comedy we get during the peak of American romantic contrivance is from Netflix starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. What year is this, 2003? Next thing I'll see is a red envelope in my mailbox. So...you might as well fall in love with  TheArchive' s latest reality fare: Watch as potential lovers go on a series of " Turbo Dates :" surreal, absurd meetups in super speed while on the search for love and companionship. Watch a woman on a date reveal her looks before plastic surgery in a bad attempt at vulnerability, or a twisted dude looking for a woman who will lie to him. Hot.  Why A

Tyler Perry and This Year's Oscars: "Don't Hate Anybody"

This year’s Oscars was certainly a different affair. But one more memorable believe it or not, than years past. It had an intimacy that felt more personal and story-driven than ever before. Tyler Perry said it best, "It is my hope that all of us would teach our kids, and not only to remember, just refuse hate. Don't hate anybody." Some started out by making popcorn in a theater, selling junk out of their car to make ends meet, apprenticing, often for free on an independent film set, or in the case of last night's Humanitarian Award winner Tyler Perry, he was homeless.   We sometimes lose sight of the fact that most in Hollywood were not born in Hollywoo

4K Restoration - It's On!

Image
Film restoration is a tedious process that produces wondrous digital remasters of cult classic films. Films are fully restored to present an updated version of the movie once enjoyed by many audiences, years and years ago. The restoration involves many parts and working with film scanning technicians and editors - from color correction to sound cleanup - giving the film a fresh face and new life – elevating it to Ultra HD. The process starts with scanning the film. Before scanning, our film technician inspects the film, and if necessary, physically cleans off dirt and smudges – any ‘interferences’ that may disrupt the quality of the film to be scanned. Then, by scanning each frame of the reel individually, the film is converted into pixels as a raw digital file, and therefore a "digital replica," so that the digital remastering process can begin. This is where the coloring, sound and overall editing can begin to restore the flick. Here, things can get labori
