Gun: Gandolfini and Altman Ahead of their Time

Presented and produced by Oscar® Nominated Director Robert Altman (The Player, Gosford Park), Gun is an anthology series following the path of a handgun and the impact it has on those who encounter it.

Gun features an A-list cast and well known writers and directors like Ted Demme, James Foley, and Altman, telling a different story each episode. Starring in the 6 part series is James Gandolfini (The Sopranos), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man), Martin Sheen (West Wing), Daryl Hannah (Kill Bill), Peter Horton (Thirtysomething), Sally Kellerman (MASH), Jennifer Tilly (The Haunted Mansion, Liar, Liar), Randy Quaid (Independence Day, Vacation), Rosanna Arquette (Pulp Fiction), Daniel Stern (Home Alone, City Slickers), Carrie Fisher (Star Wars), Kathy Baker (Cold Mountain, Cider House Rules), Sean Young (Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, No Way Out), and many more.

U2 reprises The Beatles' "Happiness is a Warm Gun" for the opening theme.

The series was certainly ahead of its time when you start to unpack the kind of impact gun violence has had on American society for centuries; and now more than ever with the Alec Baldwin incident on the set of "Rust."

It's compelling, and worth watching if only to see if the premise lives up to the promise.
