Springtime: Renewal, Magic, and Adventure

Spring officially begins on March 20th, bringing with it longer days, flowers, and a sense of renewal. While our current calendar starts the year on January 1st, many cultures and historical traditions view the spring equinox as a natural and symbolic "new year" due to the renewal of nature associated with the season after a long winter. It's a time to embrace new beginnings, reconnect with nature, and find a bit of magic along the way.

To celebrate the Spring Equinox, you can watch some films that reflect the magic of nature and the themes of rebirth. At Multicom, our genre-focused YouTube channels offer a variety of content to suit every mood. This spring, our family-friendly channel, FamBrand, is the perfect place to find films full of adventure that are appropriate for people of all ages. Two standout films, The Magic Door and The Secret Path, capture the essence of spring's themes: growth, second chances, and the magic of transformation.

The Magic Door, featuring Aaron Taylor Johnson, is a fun adventure of acceptance and friendship. In The Magic Door, Sally and Liam struggle to adjust to life with their new stepmother. To escape their reality, they embark on an unexpected adventure, befriending Raglin, the world's smallest troll, who's been exiled for 2,000 years. Together, they face dangerous enemies, rescue a Fairy Princess, and discover the true meaning of family along the way.

Lastly, The Secret Path is a movie about renewal and second chances. Set during World War II, the film follows 14-year-old Jo Ann Foley, whose life is marked by hardship. Trapped in a cycle of exploitation under her bootlegging grandfather, Jo Ann finds solace with Honey and Too Tall, a kind and loving couple who offer her safety and the chance to rediscover hope. Jo Ann's story is one of resilience and rebirth.

The magic of observing spring isn't just about warmer weather. It's about noticing the small changes around us, says Dr. Theresa Crimmins, director of the USA National Phenology Network and plant ecologist at the University of Arizona, who encourages us to tune into the natural world. "I invite you to weave a practice of observing seasonal cycles of plants and animals into your life to contribute to science and soothe your soul," she writes.

Take a walk, notice the buds on the trees, listen to the increased birdsong, and enjoy the longer days. The FamBrand YouTube channel has you covered this spring. The Magic Door and The Secret Path remind us to take a walk, listen out for increased birdsong, and go on our own adventures somewhere in nature to find some magic this Spring.
