Paradise on Hulu: A Thriller Starring Familiar Faces

(Disney/Hulu)

If you like high-stakes action and political intrigue, Hulu/ABC’s Paradise should be at the top of your watch list. The season premiere attracted 7 million viewers globally across it's first nine days and ABC will begin airing the series in weekly installments later this month. This drama follows a specialized security team tasked with safeguarding a former president, and it’s packed with suspense, unexpected twists, and standout performances. Best of all, Paradise features incredible talent from our library, including Gerald McRaney, James Marsden, and Sarah Shahi. While diving into this show, why not check out some of their other work?

Before he was caught up in the political turmoil of Paradise, James Marsden was in Gone in a Heartbeat. This tense drama follows two high school boys who kidnap Jan and demand a ransom from her husband, Mark. What starts as a quick-money scheme soon spirals out of control, forcing Mark into a desperate game of cat and mouse to save his wife. As the stakes escalate, the boys realize they’ve made a grave mistake, and the consequences may be more than they can handle. If you love Marsden’s intensity in Paradise, you won’t want to miss this film.

Gerald McRaney is no stranger to playing complex characters, and Deadly Vows is no exception. In this shocking true story, McRaney plays Tom Weston, a short-tempered truck driver with dreams of living large. His ambitions take a dark turn when he begins dating Bobbi Gilbert—who is half his age—despite already being married to Nancy. As Tom becomes entangled in a dangerous web of lies, betrayal, and deceit, his obsession with the life he’s always wanted leads to arson and murder. If you’re a fan of McRaney’s performance in Paradise, you’ll enjoy his early performance in Deadly Vows.

Gerald McRaney is also featured in the film Scattered Dreams. Kathryn and George Messenger exert every effort to provide for their children while working as tenant farmers in rural Florida. After the family refuses to comply with the overtly hierarchical society in which they live, Kathryn and George are wrongly prosecuted for fraud and placed in prison. When she's finally released, Kathryn must go to extreme lengths to regain custody of her children.

Sarah Shahi played Marian in Divine Access before her role in Paradise. The film follows Jack Harriman, a man raised by a devoutly religious mother who uses his knowledge of faith to charm women. After publicly humiliating a reverend on a local TV show, Jack inadvertently becomes a celebrity and finds himself on a whirlwind speaking tour. Along the way, supernatural forces challenge his cynicism, leading him toward an unexpected path of redemption.

With Paradise Season One finishing up on Hulu, now is the perfect time to add films with more incredible performances from James Marsden, Gerald McRaney, and Sarah Shahi to your watch list.
