Brooke Report
Brooke Shields is turning 58 next week!?! How is that possible?
A renowned actress and model who has graced both the silver screen and fashion runways, Shields is known for her striking beauty. In addition to her remarkable career, Brooke is also celebrated for her witty and memorable quotes. One of her most famous lines is, "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life."
Beyond her achievements however, especially during mental health awareness month, we thought it important to share how Brooke Shields has also been open about her personal struggle with depression. In her documentary Pretty Baby, she courageously delves into her experiences, shedding light on the challenges she faced. Despite her glamorous exterior, Shields has revealed the depth of her emotional turmoil, stating, "When you're in the middle of a battle with depression, you have to find the strength to fight your way out, even when it feels impossible." By sharing her story, Brooke Shields has become a beacon of hope for many who grapple with their own mental health issues, reminding us that even in the face of darkness, there is always a glimmer of light and the possibility of healing.
In honor of Brooke Shields and anyone who has battled depression and mental health challenges, TheArchive presents two Brooke Shields films that deal with those issues head on.
In Stalking Laura, Laura Black begins her promising career in Silicon Valley during the 1980s. She attracts the attention of a deranged coworker named Richard Farley, whose obsession with her soon becomes deadly.
In Freeway, attempting to flee her life, a teenage juvenile delinquent goes to live with her grandmother. While on her way, she meets Bob Wolverton, a charming yet sadistic serial killer. Oliver Stone produced this reimagining of Little Red Riding Hood starring Reese Witherspoon, Kiefer Sutherland, Bokeem Woodbine, Alanna Ubach Conchata Ferrell, Leanna Creel, Brittany Murphy, Amanda Plummer, Dan Hedaya, and Brooke Shields.

We leave you with Shields' words of hope, "Don't waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes, run to the next window - or break down a door."
