Hot Summer Nights: Part 2

Each year TheArchive curates our annual “hot summer nights” playlist and add a few more sexy, summer secrets to our already steamy collection.

It's been a hot minute, since we've shared Tropical Heat. Nick Slaughter (Rob Stewart), is an ex-cop and DEA agent, who drops out of society after being fired from his job. He relocates to the fictional Florida town of Key Mariah to start a detective service with a scrappy travel agent, the beautiful Sylvie Girard (Carolyn Dunn). 

Known as Sweating Bullets in the United States, it was a Canadian production shot in hot spots all over the world but in partnership with Mexico and Israel. Season one was shot in Puerto Vallarta, then season two in Eilat, Israel. Season three was shot in Pretoria, South Africa and Mauritius.

Created by Emmy nominee Sam Egan, Tropical Heat aired between 1991 and 1993. It also boasts some interesting cameos including Kelly Rowan, Mia Kirshner, Traci Lords, Lawrence Taylor, and some of Rachel Weisz' earliest work.

In the classic and sexy film Una Mujer Sin Amor (1952) from famed director Luis Buñuel, when a woman sacrifices her own happiness for her family, she creates a rift that will only come to pass years later. It is based on Guy de Maupassant's story "Pierre et Jean." The film is an indictment on bourgeois values and Buñuel himself, later in life facing those same critiques, consider this film to have been a personal let down. We ask the audience to decide. Hot or not?

In Dark Side of Genius, Julian Jons, an artist recently released from prison, is pursued by journalist Jennifer Cole. She becomes intrigued by this complex, brooding hottie as she digs into his past despite the dangers.

Mark Harmon and Elizabeth Taylor star in Sweet Bird of Youth, an adaptation of Tennessee William's masterful melodrama about an aging movie star who, appalled by her own image on the screen, flees from her movie premiere and goes into seclusion falling headlong into a sordid affair with Mark Harmon's character, Chance.

The brilliant Nicolas Roeg, who helmed the amazing Donald Sutherland starrer Don’t Look Now, directs.

Matt Dillon leads Liar's Moon. Summer in 1940s Texas finds two teens on opposite sides of the tracks falling hopelessly and forbiddingly in love. 

Here’s a fun one starring Kojak and Michael Knight! David Hasselhoff, Joan Collins, and Telly Savalas star in The Cartier Affair. After Curt Taylor is severely indebted to the top dog at California State Prison and released, he takes on the only job he can get - using his guile to romance a wealthy older woman so he can steal her jewels and settle his debts. 

We feature this one a lot because Renée Zellweger turns up the hotness in this period drama starring Vincent D’Onofrio.

The Whole Wide World is a true story of Novalyne Price Ellis (Renée Zellweger) one of the greatest pulp fiction writers of all time who has a torrid and turbulent affair with Robert. E. Howard (Vincent D'Onofrio), the great pulp writer of the 1930s.
