Hey there, love birds! Valentine’s Day has officially arrived, and it’s time to celebrate all variations of love whether it be platonic, familial, or romantic. Although the origins of Valentine’s Day are a bit murky , the most popular (and most romantic) legend goes as follows: Emperor Claudius II of Rome, outlawed marriage because he believed that unmarried men were more effective soldiers. A Roman priest named Valentine thought this was unfair, and continued to marry soldiers to their sweethearts in secret. He eventually got caught and was executed for going against the emperor’s wishes. While he was in jail, Valentine wrote the first "valentine" to the daughter of his jailer, signing his letter “from your Valentine.” Later, Pope Gelasius I designated the anniversary of his death as St. Valentine's Day . In the realm of music, few events carry as much weight and prestige as the Grammy Awards. Winning a Grammy is not just a trophy; it's a validation of an artist's impact and influence on the industry. The Grammy’s are never dull; at the 2024 Grammys this past Sunday, we got a remarkable performance from Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs showcasing their talents with a rendition of Fast Car, Miley Cyrus received her first Grammy Award , and Jay-Z gave a powerful speech about the division that categorization at the Grammy’s creates.  Taylor Swift won Album of the Year for 4th time , ending the night as 14-time Grammy winner. She'll now head back out on the road to continue her record breaking tour; the mystery of whether or not she will make it to the Super Bowl in time won't be solved until kick-off on Sunday. Black History Month , observed annually in February, is a significant time to reflect on the achievements, struggles, and contributions of African Americans throughout history . This month-long celebration serves as a powerful and necessary reminder of the resilience, creativity, and impact that individuals of African descent have had on the United States and the world.  The legacy of Black History Month dates back to 1926 when historian Dr. Carter G. Woodson recognized the lack of history and perspectives of African Americans in the nation's curriculum throughout his studies. Dr. Carter G. Woodson stated that African-American contributions were too often overlooked, ignored, and even suppressed by the writers of history textbooks. Black History Month is a direct response to the systemic suppression of the black experience. In this month, we as Americans not only celebrate black history, but we also rectify historical biases . There are many ways to honor Black History Month like
