The Super Bowl is here, and so is...Roseanne? Yes, as a matter of fact,  TheArchive  has a one two punch for you, a twofer if you will that brings you football and Roseanne. But more on that in a moment.  First Roseanne. It's been nearly a half decade since Roseanne was "cancelled" and now Fox Nation has helped her claw back with a new comedy special  Roseanne Barr: Cancel This! , premiering Monday  on Fox Nation . Roseanne has been pushing this hard across recent football games and no doubt Fox will have something up their sleeve to support her on Sunday. Roseanne also has a doc debuting the same day on the Fox Nation streaming service,  Who Is Roseanne Barr? There is something to be said about the presumed power and draw of Roseanne, who joins Kelsey Grammer and Kevin Costner in the network's attempt to bring eyeballs, that Fox is driving so much awareness around her in hopes she boosts subscriber numbers for the nascent streamer.  And we say - good luck and we hope

Black History Month: Reflection and Action

Image
This Black History Month, we pay deep respect and homage to the late Tyre Nichols and reflect on the urgency of systemic change.  The significance of Black History Month serves as a reminder that the contributions and experiences of African Americans have been integral to the fabric of American history and must be fully recognized and celebrated.  Yet despite progress in some areas, many African Americans continue to face disparities in, among many other areas, the criminal justice system.  Tyre's tragic and reprehensible demise conjures a story we hear far too often.  In the summer of 1985, Edmund Perry, a 17-year-old Harlem resident and honor student, bound for Stanford University in the Fall, was gunned down by a plainclothes police officer. Murder Without Motive tells Perry's story of more than 20 years ago, yet it seems all too eerily familiar. Edmund Perry has everything going for him after he graduates with a scholarship to attend Stanford. With his dedication paying of

TheArchive's Oscar-Winning Holocaust Documentaries

Image
On International Holocaust Remembrance Day TheArchive honors the millions who perished and the millions whose eternal light continues to shine as a beacon of hope. The Holocaust stands as a stark reminder of the dangers of hatred, intolerance, and antisemitism, and it serves as a call to action for all people of conscience to work towards a more just and peaceful world. Our extensive library of Holocaust films, many Oscar winning or nominated, spotlights the importance of remembering the past, and of the need to be vigilant against all forms of hate and discrimination. We must remember the past in order to shape a better future for all people.    Oscar winning documentary,  The Long Way Home , echoes those ideals as it depicts the plight of Jewish refugees after World War II that contributed to the creation of the State of Israel.  The film examines the horrific conditions for Jewish refugees even in post-war Europe, as antisemitism was still prevalent and poverty the norm.  The forma

This post was originally published on (1/16/22) and updated on (1/15/23) . This is no time to engage in the luxury of cooling off or to take the tranquilizing drug of gradualism. Now is the time to make real the promises of democracy; now is the time to rise from the dark...now is the time to make justice a reality for all of God's children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment. - Martin Luther King, Jr.  Aside from inspiring the world to take action through his own work and words, Martin Luther King Jr. also often quoted other iconoclasts to punctuate his messages. One such quote from Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables was especially prophetic and came during King’s 1968 appearance on the Mike Douglas Show. "Where there is darkness, crimes will be committed. The guilty one is not merely he who commits a crime but he who causes the darkness.”  King went on to explain that sometimes those who commit acts of atrocity are mere byproducts of a darkness
